PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

About this mould

Precast box culverts put drainage, cables and services into one buried box — and the box geometry has to repeat precisely for segment after segment to joint up underground.

Zhongbian builds box culvert moulds as outer frame plus adjustable inner core systems: cell dimensions follow the drawing, cores collapse and reset quickly, and joint faces are machined for watertight matching.

Single and multi-cell configurations are available, with external vibration provisions and lifting points cast into the design. Trial assembly and measurement precede every dispatch.

ADVANTAGES

Why buyers choose this mould

Adjustable cores for wall and slab thickness

Core sets are built to internal dimensions with shims and spacers that hold the specified wall and slab thickness, so small changes in section do not require a new mould.

Detailed for wet cast or dry cast

Face plates, joints and cores are detailed to the casting method used in your yard, so the demoulding sequence matches the process and the finish you are set up to produce.

Multi cell as a standard option

Two, three and four cell configurations are produced from the same outer frame with additional core sets. This keeps a mixed programme on one mould system.

Joint faces that line up and seal

End plates are machined square, so consecutive units line up on the laying line and gaskets compress evenly. Poor joint geometry is the usual cause of leaks in precast box runs.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Where it works

Box culvert moulds are used for precast utility tunnels, road and railway culverts, cable ducts and pedestrian underpasses, where identical segments are cast in battery lines and installed underground.

Utility tunnels and drainage. Prefabricated utility tunnels, storm drainage, service ducts and cable routes are assembled from identical units, so internal dimensions must be the same from the first cast to the last.

Underpasses and crossings. Pedestrian underpasses, farm crossings and small road bridges are cast as box units and placed in one lift, which requires a mould matched to the lifting scheme.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you inquire

Wet-cast or dry-cast?
Both processes are supported — tell us your casting method and the mould faces, joints and cores are detailed accordingly.
Can you build multi-cell culverts?
Yes — two, three and four-cell configurations are standard options, with core sets sized to your internal dimensions.
What is the lead time?
Standard single-cell moulds ship in 7–10 working days; multi-cell and custom sizes take 15–25 days.
How is the core removed from a box culvert mould?
The core is split or tapered and pulled along the axis once the concrete is stable. Tell us the crane capacity in your yard and the core is built in sections sized to lift within it.
Can you match a culvert section we already produce?
Yes. Send the section drawing, or a measured sketch with internal width, height, wall and slab thicknesses, and the mould is detailed to produce the same unit.
Are gaskets supplied with the mould?
Gasket grooves can be machined into the end plates so standard rubber gaskets can be used. We specify the gasket size on the drawing; the gasket itself is normally bought locally to avoid long shipping time on a consumable.
